After forty five years of managing private client investments for Canadians, I have observed and experienced many of the successes and pitfalls of achieving a rate of return that meets one's expectations.

Now, having moved from investment management to investment research, I thought it might be useful to share the insights I gathered along the way.

Over the decades, I served in positions such as Chief Portfolio Manager for a big five bank private client division. This allowed me access to what drives not only private client decisions, but additionally what drives institutional money management.

 In the private client aspect of my practice, my team managed client portfolios that ranged in size from $1,000,000 to $250,000,000.
